Promotions

Promotions let you publish visual banners that guests see when they open the chat. These banners can highlight special offers, announce events, or give guests a quick shortcut to a product, spa service, or booking — all without any back-and-forth conversation.

How It Works

When a guest scans a QR code and opens the chat interface, EmberX shows a full-screen slideshow of your active promotions. Guests can swipe through the slides, tap a call-to-action button, or dismiss the slideshow to start chatting.

Each promotion consists of a background (image or color/gradient), a title, an optional description, and an optional action button that links to something useful.

Categories and Display Sections

Every promotion belongs to exactly one category, which controls where it appears in the Guest App:

CategoryWhere it appears
MainHero slideshow at the very top of the landing page
Any other name (e.g. Spa, Dining, Events)A separate scrollable section below the hero, labelled with the category name

You can use the built-in suggestions (Main, Spa, Dining, Events, Seasonal, Offers) or type in a custom category name. If you need a new category, just type the name and select Create ”…” from the dropdown.

Creating a Promotion

  1. Go to Promotions in the sidebar.
  2. Click Add Promotion.
  3. Fill in the details (see fields below).
  4. Click Save Promotion.

The promotion becomes visible to guests immediately if its status is set to Active.

Promotion Fields

Title (required)

The headline guests read on the slide. Keep it short — one line is ideal.

Description

A short subtitle or supporting text shown beneath the title. Works best as one or two sentences.

Category

Controls which section of the Guest App this promotion appears in. Defaults to Main (the hero slideshow).

Color / Gradient

The slide background color when no image is uploaded. You can choose a solid color or a gradient using the color picker. The gradient is rendered as a full bleed background behind the title and description.

If you upload an image, the color/gradient is hidden and the image takes over the background.

Image

Upload an image directly from your computer or paste an image URL. The image is displayed as the slide background, scaled to fill the entire slide area.

For best results, use a landscape image at roughly 16:9 ratio (e.g. 1280 × 720 px or larger). Avoid images with important content at the very edges, as they may be cropped on some screen sizes.

Determines what happens when a guest taps the call-to-action button on the slide:

Link typeWhat it does
No linkNo button is shown; the slide is informational only
Custom URLOpens any URL (e.g. a menu PDF, a booking site) in the guest’s browser
Product pageOpens the product detail page in the shop so the guest can add it to an order
Spa ServiceOpens the spa booking form for a specific service
Order (instant)Guest taps the button → an order is created immediately at the price you set, no cart needed

The text shown on the call-to-action button (e.g. Book Now, View Menu, Learn More). Required whenever a link type other than “No link” is selected.

Price (Order instant only)

When Link Type is set to Order (instant), you must enter a fixed price. The guest taps the button and an order is placed at that exact price, capturing it as a snapshot at the time of the tap.

Sort Order

A number controlling the display order within a category. Lower numbers appear first. Promotions with the same sort order are sorted by creation date (newest first).

Status

Set to Active to show the promotion to guests, or Inactive to hide it without deleting it. You can toggle this at any time from the promotions list by clicking the eye icon in the row actions.

Managing Existing Promotions

From the Promotions list you can:

  • Edit — Click the ⋯ menu → Edit to open the slide panel and update any field.
  • Activate / Deactivate — Toggle visibility without deleting.
  • Delete — Permanently removes the promotion.

Order Config for Instant-Order Promotions

When a promotion uses the Order (instant) link type, you can set up advanced ordering rules via Order Config. Access it from ⋯ → Advanced Settings on any orderable promotion.

Available options:
